Goodbye Bloggers!

As you may have noticed, the inspiration for this blog slowly faded after we lost our feisty Emerald. Without a doubt, I have enjoyed this blogging community. I have appreciated your enthusiasm in following the dogs' antics and was so very grateful for your caring encouragement when we lost Emerald in October. While some have suggested we search for another spirited pup, we have decided against a second dog. Tierra loves being the sole mistress of ...

Catmania Continues

Our chocolate lab friend Bella came over today. It is so nice because she keeps Oreo busy. Oreo, being a husky/border collie is a never-tiring play machine. It is wonderful--I used to be kind of like that too but now that I'm ancient, I'd rather rest my butt on the cozy couch and relax. It was a relief to rest inside while Bella and Oreo were just rippin' around the yard. Oreo is finally tired ...

Couch Potato

This week I'm enjoying my new friend, Oreo. She is about the same age as Emerald was and reminds me a lot of her. Its kind of nice to have a friend that reminds me of Emerald. This week we're house, cat and dog sitting at Oreo's house. I'm keeping my eye on Oreo and my pawrents are looking after the house and some cats. I'm not allowed upstairs because that is where the cats reside but ...

Still Happy

It has been almost 7 weeks since we lost Emerald. I can't help but feel my throat tighten when I think of her. Today, finally, I was able to start watching video footage of her again. Wow, do we ever miss her. When the accident happened, we were expecting Tierra to go through some terms of withdrawal. Her response to the loss of Emerald was rather unexpected. As time passes, she soaks up every bit of ...

Absence

Dear Friends, This week has been a difficult week. Everywhere we are, there is an absence of a dog we grew to love. I've come to realize that it is the absence that is painful. Twice a day we fed our dogs outside on the front porch. Emerald would enthusiastically race for the door, leap onto the floor mat and slide, riding it until she hit the door. It became normal and now that she has left ...

Thank You

We are so comforted by all of the love, support and prayers we've received from you. Thank you to those who sent others our direction. It is such a blessing to have such a loving and understanding  community. Your comments were greatly appreciated. Thank you. While we miss Emerald terribly, we have been trying to appreciate what we do have. We are so thankful for our loyal and loving Tierra and have been noticing many of her sweet traits ...

Emerald

Dear blogging community, With intense grief that only dog lovers and owners can understand, we write this post. Emerald & Tierra accompanied me as usual to work where they run freely on a 50 Acre ranch. This time when I prepared to leave, Emerald wasn't anywhere to be found. After searching for hours we received a call from our local vet. Emerald had wondered 2 kilometres, gone on the Highway and was hit by a car. Someone had ...
